![]() ![]() The game currently lacks a fleshed out campaign mode but is a refreshing example of a genre rarely seen lately. Despite this, the graphics and general atmosphere are surprisingly decent. Empires of the Undergrowth is currently in an early access and in an incomplete and fairly buggy state. The game plays as a fairly typical resource management style strategy game, gathering food and supplies to create more fighter ants while defending the queen. ![]() Workers excavate dirt tunnels and tend to larvae while fighters train and attack any other insects which may wander into the nest. And yeah, good point, I always forget to factor in the respawning since most (okay like all) RTS games dont tend to have that as much as this. With a heavy inspiration from classic 90's dungeon management style games, Empires of the Undergrowth tasks players with conquering a series of underground levels while insect enemies try to take out your miniature armies. Ants that come from upgraded tiles are not linearly better than the base ants, since ants respawn for a much lower cost than the original tile. Control and grow a colony of ants in the style of Dungeon Keeper and SimAnt by expanding across maps and fighting enemies.
